Press Conference: LB LaDarius Owens
Auburn University workshop participants interviewed Auburn University’s top linebacker recruit LaDarius Owens Wednesday afternoon in a mock press conference. Owens, a top eight prospect at linebacker, answered questions from the Auburn University workshop students regarding his experience on a national championship team and his future as a college football player. Owens a red shirt freshmen last season, did not receive any playing time on the field last season, but plans on having an impactful season his freshmen year.
During the mock press conference, LaDarius answered multiple questions that helped Auburn University workshop students gain knowledge on how to be a successful interviewer. The talented linebacker Owens was offered full scholarships from all SEC schools except Vanderbilt and Florida. Ultimately Owens decided to attend Auburn University because “they treated me like family” claimed Owens. Owens began playing football during his freshmen year of high school where he played strong safety and corner back at Jess Lanier high school.
Owens talked about what his experience has been like during his first year playing football at Auburn and what makes Auburn University so unique. When asked what his planes are for the future, Owens stated, “I want to play in the NFL and if that doesn’t work out than I would like to be a physical therapist.” While Owens has major expectations in the future, Owens believes that the hardest part of being an athlete is the challenge of the work ethnic that athletics face.
In addition, Owens talked about how he enjoys a challenge and how he motivates himself when he thinks about how great his family is and how grateful he is to have them. Owens also believes that the most important thing that a football player needs to have is dedication to the game. One of LaDarius Owens favorite players is Kobe Bryant because he loves his work ethic and wants to follow Kobe Bryant’s work ethnic because he plays the game with a lot of passion.
LaDarius Owen’s journey so far at Auburn University has been comforting and he has learned a lot from his experience so far at Auburn. Owens has made lifelong friends and has gained lots of experience through winning the national championship last season.
