It's time to leave the nest, right?

Choices of where to go to college, who to spend time with, what classes to take, where to work and what to wear are only a few decisions teens are faced with each day. The questions range from the miniscule to the major. All these choices have an impact on the future, although they may not always seem to be important.
One of the largest decisions every teen will face is where he or she will go in life after high school. Today there are more options than ever, especially for students wishing to continue their education by attending college.
Picking a major, a college and a career all must be done. These choices can shape the rest of someone’s life and are typically made by the age of 18. Decisions for the rest of your life are made before being legally considered an adult. Sometimes the weight of the decision can be overwhelming.
As the time comes closer and closer for a student to leave home, the rebellious desire held throughout high school suddenly disappears. All too quickly far from home loses the shiny appeal that it once held and students begin to look at options they are comfortable and familiar with.
The need to get away does not disappear. The conflict between the desire for something new and the need of the familiar just becomes greater.
Questions are raised about what may be better in a career sense and what feels more comfortable.
Sometimes the only solution is stepping out on a limb and doing what makes you happy, even if it means sacrificing something that you always dreamed. Sometimes clinging to dreams of a “perfect” life can get in the way of living the one you’re meant to live.
