Auburn Journalism Workshop 2011
I came to Auburn hoping to get good insight in the field of journalism. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. I have gotten a good look in the area of photography, sports writing, broadcasting, print journalism and online editing.
I was surprised at how helpful the teachers and counselors were. Whenever I had a problem, they were ready to answer my question in terms that I could understand. The teachers knew their field of study, quite well. I felt in safe hands during every class.
This workshop helped learn the life of journalism. It is very exciting and ever changing. I learned to improve on my grammar more. All of these classes helped get our staff ready for our first year of starting our newspaper at Flomaton High School.
The workshop is also a great social place. The campers here are really nice and social. They make you feel like you never left home.
This workshop not only gave a look into the world of journalism, but also a very nice look around the campus of Auburn. I learned about all of the neat traditions Auburn has and the very interesting history of it. The tour we took made me really consider choosing Auburn for college. It is such a great place to be and a wonderful atmosphere.
Overall, the Auburn campus is a wonderful place to be. There is so much tradition here and such great staff. This workshop not only helped sway me toward journalism, but also opened my eyes to Auburn as a college choice. I will be taking back better interviewing skills, better writing skills and mechanics of a newspaper to my school. I really have enjoyed this week and learned a lot of useful knowledge for when I start looking at majors/colleges.
