Working Hard or Hardly Working?

Just a few short years ago you could walk in any grocery store or fast food restaurant in America after 3 in the afternoon and see an abundance of high school students working to pick up some weekend spending money.
However, that is not necessarily the case today. When the economy hit rock bottom, the higher paying jobs that adults once held went out the window. In an effort not to lose everything that they had, adults took those smaller positions, and left the kids high and dry…or so many thought.
As the economy has begun to recover, though, people have established themselves in those smaller positions and maybe even advanced to slightly higher positions. So does that mean that students should just give up? NO. They should try to be more creative in their job searches.
Think back to the 60’s. Perhaps you weren’t alive in the 60’s but you’ve seen movies or read things about what kids did in their spare time. They were all about entrepreneurship. But that doesn’t seem to be the case today.
In today’s society it seems that young people either do not want to work at all, or they simply want to show up to work, go through the motions to get paid and go home. In my opinion, teenagers need to get out there and come up with some more creative ways to earn their money.
