Plainsman, originally titled the Orange and Blue, was founded by Wirts and Websterians in 1893.
“The name changed a lot when Auburn was first opened.” Natallie, editor of the Auburn Plainsman states. “ Everytime the school changed its name, so did the Plainsman.”
Through its early years, the paper was small. Later on, it grew and became the most read newspaper on campus. Week after week, day after day, the Plainsman crew worked hard to keep the students interested.
“We come out with a new paper every Thursday... It’s all for the people. Everything we do has to keep them interested and reading,” Natallie tells.
The paper has four sections, news, campus, sports and intrigue. In news, everything that happens around the city and some interesting things that happen in the world such as Osama’s death is put here. The campus section talks about everything around the campus like new buildings, and in sports, interview with players and scores at games.
“In Intrigue, Everything important to the people goes here,” states a young bystander, Scott.
Natallie says, “Intrigue is interesting and corky. It’s intriguing!”
The paper is a great source of information for everyone on campus.
